Southern held its annual Safety Stand Down on May 20, 2017.  The Safety Stand Down which is now in its 15th year.  We transformed our yard into a giant classroom outfitted with various types of equipment and training.  Our employees attended classes, demonstrations and practice hands on safety techniques.  This year’s classes included: Excavation Training, NFPA 70E, NECA’s Guide to Policies and Best Practices, Accident Reporting, Heat Illness, Silica Dust Training, Flagger Training and CPR/First Aid

Safety comes first at Southern.  We are committed to each of our employees making it home safely after each shift every day of the week.  The way to achieve a safe work place is periodically refreshing old knowledge and acquiring new knowledge with quality training with the most up-to-date safety practices and addressing the latest workplace issues.  Southern Contracting’s Employee Injury Frequency Rate has decreased dramatically from previous years meaning our IIPP is working well   Southern Contracting will continue to be committed to safety and actively be improving our Safety and Health programs.
